FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER (B)

Dear Parishioners,

We had the sad news of the death of Fr. Francis Conway OFM He was well known throughout the Diocese of Brentwood and especially in the Newham Deanery. He spent 23 years here in this Deanery. He was an assistant Priest in Woodford Green and became Parish priest in 1978 to 1984 in Stratford and then came back in 2002 as an assistant Priest. He was well liked by all and was a tremendous man of wisdom. \I would often seek advice from him and found him so helpful. He will be sadly missed but we pray he is now experiencing the fullness of Christ’s love in God’s kingdom. His body will be brought into St. Francis’ Church with a Mass t 8.00pm on Tuesday 1st May and the Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday 2nd of May at 12.15pm. May he rest in peace.

1ST COMMUNIONS: will take place next Saturday 5th May and Sunday 6th May.

The Mass on Saturday will be at 12noon, and on Sunday at 1.00pm. We have nearly 40 children who have been preparing for this very important day in their lives and we do ask everyone to pray for them and their families. We say a huge thank you to the Sisters and their team of Catechists who have prepared the Children and have done a wonderful job. It is great to see so many people involved. We hope it will be a very memorable day for all concerned.

MASS FOR MIGRANTS: in Honour of St. Joseph the Worker. At St. George’s Catholic Cathedral, Westminster Bridge Road, London SE1 7HY. For decades the Church has welcomed people from all over the world and this Mass celebrates the diversity of our congregations. The Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop Peter Smith, of Southwark and our own Bishop Alan of Brentwood and priests and people of all nationalities from all over London, Essex, Hertfordshire and Kent. It is a very joyful occasion and you are all welcome to come along and join in the Mass.

LOURDES: I shall be in Lourdes this coming week and will of course be keeping you all in my prayers. I am going again at the end of May, from Monday 28th to Friday 1st June. I do have spare places for anyone who would like to join me. The cost is £579.00 Including Insurance and Twin Room, in a Three Star Hotel called the Beau Site, and a very nice one it is.

GOD BLESS, Bob

The cost is £24.00 for a full year, or you can pay £12.00 for six months or £6.00 for three months or even pay monthly at £2.00. Paying it in one go does help the administration. A lot less work!! Thanks to all who have already filled the forms. We hope to do the first draw in the next two weeks.
