Dear Parishioners,

We are now coming towards the end of the School Holidays and we need to begin to think about the Catechetical programs that we will begin in September. The Baptism Course will start on Monday 10th September at 6.30pm in the Parish Room. The First Communion program will start with the Parents of the Children for 1st Holy Communion on Wednesday 12th September at 7.30pm in the Church and the Children’s program will begin on Saturday 15th September at 9.15am in the Church. We do hope all Parents who wish for their children to join the 1st Communion program will attend the first meeting, it is important that we start together.

INDIA APPEAL: Once again the Parish has shown how much they care for people in need. You had no warning about the Retiring Collection last week and yet you were able to donate £1012.44p towards the people who have suffered with the terrible floods in India. What a response, I can only say a huge thank you to you all and I know some people said they would donate this coming week. So we may get even more donations. This money will be sent directly to a Priest who has relations in the parish and who is working extremely hard to help the many thousands who are suffering because of the Floods. This money will then be spent on what the people will need and ease their sufferings a little. No doubt all over the country people are sending donations and hopefully are as generous as St. Michael’s parishioners. I do know that some of our people have relations who have lost their homes and are struggling to find food. We must all pray for these people that they will receive all the help that they can get and need.

WALSINGHAM: Next week end I shall be in Walsingham for the Annual pilgrimage that the Brentwood Catholic Fellowship have each year. While we are there, we will be offering Holy Mass for all the Parishioners, especially those who are unable to come to Church through ill health or disabilities. This week end is always a very special one and I really do enjoy the experience very much. There are about thirty in the group and we are able to do the walk from the village to the Shrine where we will have Holy Mass. Some of course will go in the Mini Bus as they would not be able to do the walk. Please pray for us GOD BLESS, Bob

BRENTWOOD CATHOLIC CHILDREN’S SOCIETY (BCCS) is inviting supporters from all over the diocese to come and take part in the Barleylands Fun Walk on Sunday 2nd September 2018.  This is a great fun, family event with a choice of walks on the Barleylands site in Billericay , the longest being no more than 3 miles and a shorter walk which is suitable for children & toddlers.  This community event starts with a BBQ at 12.00 and with walks due to start at 1pm & finish around 2pm, it is an ideal opportunity for families or parish groups to get together & have a fun afternoon while raising much needed funds for ‘bccs’. For a sponsorship form and more information, please go to www.bccs.org.uk or contact Alison on arg.cardoness@googlemail.com
