World Day of Prayer for Vocations

Dear Parishioners,

2018 marks the 55th Anniversary of the World day of prayer for Vocations. The purpose of the World day of Prayer for Vocation is to publically fulfill the Lord’s instruction to “Pray the Lord of the harvest to send labourers into his harvest” (Mt 9:38; Lk10:2.) As a climax to a prayer that is continually offered throughout the Church, it affirms the primacy of faith and grace in all that concerns vocations to the priesthood and to the consecrated life. While appreciating all vocations, the Church concentrates its attention this day on vocations to the ordained ministries (priesthood and diaconate), to the Religious Life in all its forms (male and female, contemplative and apostolic), to societies of apostolic life, to secular institutes in their diversity of services and membership, and to the missionary life, in the particular sense of mission “ad gentes”.

GIFT AID: This will be the last week we will have the Boxes of Gift Aid envelopes at the front of the Church. If you have not collected your Box please do so this weekend. It would be very helpful, otherwise we will have to get volunteers to go around the houses, which of course takes a lot of time. If you are an income Tax payer and do not have a Box of Gift Aid envelopes, then I would ask you to come along to the front of the Church and all will be explained and hopefully you will join the Gift Aid Scheme. We can claim 25p for every £1.00 you give and this does mount up quite as lot of money for the Parish. Please support the Parish through the Gift Aid Scheme if you can.

300 CLUB: The forms are available at the back of the Church. We do hope that as many of the parishioners will join the Club as it does raise money for us to do the extra work need in the Church. The cost is £24.00 for a full year, or you can pay £12.00 for six months or £6.00 for three months or even pay monthly At £2.00. Paying it in one go does help the administration. A lot less work!! Thanks to all who have already filled the forms. We hope to do the first draw in the next two weeks. GOD BLESS, Bob
