PENTECOST SUNDAY OF EASTER (B)

Dear Parishioners,

Today we celebrate the great feast of Pentecost. On this day many young people will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation and we pray that they will all be strong followers of Jesus throughout their lives. We of course had Bishop Alan here on February 25th, when about 32 of our young people received the Sacrament. We hope and pray that they are fulfilling the promises they made on the day and receiving the Sacraments each week. The photographer for the Photos that were taken will have a poster at the back of the Church and a form for the families to order the photograph of their Children and we will let you know the cost as well. Please pray for all the young people who will be receiving the Sacrament this week.

PREPARING FOR MASS:

TALKING BEFORE MASS Pope Francis said this at a recent General Audience in Rome: ‘When we go to Mass, maybe we arrive five minutes before, and we start to chit-chat with those around us. However, it is not a moment for chit-chat. It is a moment of silence for preparing ourselves, a time for the heart to collect itself in order to prepare for the encounter with Jesus.  Silence is so important.’ Please bear the Holy Father’s teaching in mind, in order to show respect for the Blessed Sacrament, and for our fellow parishioners who are praying. Please show a good example to those around you. I have to say that the talking has got quite loud recently in our Church and I do hope people will follow the example of Pope Francis and remember to try and have a few moments silence before we begin Holy Mass. The other problem is that people are still using the their phones during the Mass. This is definitely not showing the respect we have for the Blessed Sacrament and is really and truly out of order, talking to friends etc while Mass is going on. Please put your phones on silence or switch them off while in Church and let us remember we are there to celebrate the Holy Mass and remind ourselves of where we are and why we are there in the Church. GOD BLESS,
