TWENTIETH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME (B)

Dear Parishioners,

A PILGRIMAGE TO POLAND AND THE DIVINE MERCY; is taking place on Monday 10th September to Saturday 15th September at a cost of £679.00 plus Insurance which is £45.00 if you are under 65yrs. £59.00 if over 65. Fr. Anthony Prendergast is the Leader and Spiritual Director. He is one of the Priest of St. John at St. Antony’s Forest Gate. I have the brochures and the application forms, if you wish to go on this pilgrimage please contact me after Mass for the Itinery and Booking Form. It is a very compact programme with a visit to Auschwitz, the former concentration camp and see the cell of St. Maximillian Kolbe. I think it will be a very good experience and do hope some of you might travel.

FLOODS IN INDIA: We ask your prayers for the people of India where there has been very serious flooding with the amount of rain the country is having. Over 1000 people have died in the floods and many thousands have lost their homes and have none or very little food. Please pray for them and there will be a retiring collection at all Masses this week end to help towards the costs of helping the people many of whom have relations here in the Parish. Please be as generous as you can.

CATHOLIC FELLOWSHIP: Last Saturday we held a Bar B Q for people with Special Needs. If you remember the day was a very beautiful sunny day and so we got all the tables and chairs out in the garden for the Bar B Q. I went upstairs about 2.45pm for a rest and when I returned to the garden the weather had change, the sun disappeared and the clouds began to come across, I thought to myself that this is not good and after receiving a phone from another Leader it was decided to put away all the furniture in the garden and to use St. Michael’s School Hall. This was a lot of extra work and I have to say a huge thank you to two young lads who worked extremely hard helping me to put everything away and to get everything ready in the Hall. They had help from another parishioner who was passing by and say the work they were doing. We had to do a lot of work in the garden with cutting the grass and the hedges and I was very grateful to two of our Adults in this. The whole thing was worth every moment as the Bar B Q was a great success over 50 people attended and enjoyed the food and the music very much. The cooking was done by another Parishioner and we thank them all for the hard work. GOD BLESS, Bob
