SEVENTH SUNDAY OF EASTER (B)

World Communications Day

Dear Parishioners,

We had a wonderful celebration for our First Communion Children last week end. I have to say the readings were beautifully read at both Masses and the singing at both Masses was excellent. A big thank you to the Soloists and of course a very special thank you to the Children of St. Michael’s School with their teacher for coming to support the First Communion Children with the singing. We also thank the Catechists for all their hard work over the past nine months in the preparation of the Children for their First Communion. A tremendous job well done by all.

LOURDES: Once again we had a wonderful Pilgrimage to Lourdes and we remembered you all in our prayers and Holy Masses. The weather was not that great, damp and cold most of the time, but it did not spoil the trip. Lourdes was crowded with people from all over the world and it is wonderful to see so many young people working very hard in caring for those in need. We had a small group of 14 persons and we really enjoyed the experience. Sadly one of the group, Jude de Cunha, a marvelous person, who had Special needs, and thoroughly enjoyed himself on his first trip with the group, was called by the Lord on Friday. I was very upset with the news as he had no illness in Lourdes and was just enjoying all the activities, the family told me that he just wanted to go back to Lourdes next year and wanted his bag packed ready. I ask your prayers for the repose of his soul and to pray or the family who are in shock over his death and to pray to for all who came to Lourdes with him.

PHIL LOCK RIP: was the Lady who would stay in the presbytery looking after the Dogs as well as the house any time I was away. She had been doing this for the past 12 years. Sadly she died last week at the age of 85yrs. She was a very supportive person and will be missed very much. She also spent many years working in Westminster at the Passage helping to feed and care for the homeless. Please pray for her family and friends especially Olive who was a life- long friend Phil.

GOD BLESS, Bob

300 CLUB: The forms are available at the back of the Church. We do hope that as many of the parishioners will join the Club as it does raise money for us to do the extra work need in the Church. The cost is £24.00 for a full year, or you can pay £12.00 for six months or £6.00 for three months or even pay monthly at £2.00. Paying it in one go does help the administration. A lot less work!! Thanks to all who have already filled the forms. We hope to do the first draw in the next two weeks.

FR. BRIAN McWILLIAMS is celebrating his Diamond Jubilee of his Priesthood on 31st May 2018. He has worked in a number of Parishes all over the Diocese and I have to say he is quite a character. We wish him every Blessing on this very special occasion. He now looks after the Nazareth House Home in Westcliff which is also his residence. Please keep him in your prayers.
